- Medication--Supplies,
equipment, and prescription medications needed for comfort.
- Social Workers--Offer emotional
support and assistance in finding community resources.
- Pastoral care is a non-denominational
supportive service that reflects the commitment HOW has to meeting
the spiritual needs of the patient and their families. The spirit
is defined as the principal of life and the vital energy. All
human beings are spiritual whether they practice an organized
religion or no religion at all. Spiritual care is inherent in
the philosophy of HOW.
Patients and their families are approached in a caring manner
which is sensitive to their spiritual orientation. This helps
to increase their spiritual well-being and the comfort level
of the patient and his family. Pastoral care also serves as a
liaison between the patient's religious preference and the clergy
and/or other spiritual resources.
"Grant
me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference."

a natural fit between the Hospice focus of comfort-oriented medical
care and alternative therapies.
