Caregiving and Loss WHO: Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester and the Hospice Foundation of America WHAT: Caregiving and Loss: Family Needs, Professional Responses, Hospice Foundation of Americas Eighth Annual Living With Grief Teleconference moderated by Cokie Roberts of ABC News, with a special message from former Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. WHERE: Westchester Community College, Valhalla WHEN: 1:30 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2001 WHY: An educational forum in which a panel of experts will discuss ways that healthcare and other professionals can better understand and respond to the needs of family caregivers faced with end-of-life decisions and grief related issues. Doka, PhD, Lutheran minister and professor of gerontology at the College of New Rochelle, past president of the Association for Death Education and Counseling, and Senior Consultant to Hospice Foundation of America. Bernice Catherine Harper, MSW, MScPH, LLD, is the Medical Care Advisor of the Health Care Financing Administration and social worker, educator, lecturer, and health care administrator. Formerly of the City of Hope National Medical Center, CA. Carol Levine, MA, directs the Families and Health Care Project of the United Hospital Fund in New York. She also directs the Orphan Project: Families and Children in the HIV Epidemic and served as director for the Citizens Commission on AIDS, NY. Susan Reinhard, RN, PhD, is Executive Director of the Center for Medicare Education, Institute for the Future of Aging Services, Washington, DC. She is a visiting professor at Rutgers University and focuses on innovative practices in aging services. Myrl Weinberg, CAE, is President of the National Health Council, an organization that works to bring quality health care to all people. She works on behalf of chronic illness, disabilities, health care delivery, long-term care, and family caregiving.
